Anjali Krishnapillai-Spode
Anjali KrAnjali Krishnapillai-Spode is an artist born and raised in Naarm (Melbourne) with a Tamil heritage. Identity is an important factor in her practice and she considers the intersections of herself. Whilst one does not have to suffer for art, it helps. Trauma and addiction have informed her practice and the catharsis of creation is a driving factor to keep creating. Using text and diaristic displays of her inner world and feelings, her work puts stigmatised and private feelings on a wall. Through confessional and highly personal works, her work communicates the unspoken language of trauma. Her process can be an impulsive stream of consciousness expressed through words and drawing. The works stand powerfully and unashamedly. Anjali has a background in fine art drawing, graduating BFA Drawing at RMIT in 2025
